My name is Mary, and
five persons live in my house: my mother, my father, my sister, my brother, and
me. My father works for the Ministry of
the Environment and my mother sells clothes in the market. My older brother is a senior majoring in
business at the same university where I am a first year student. I plan to major in banking and management. My
younger sister is a high school student.
At school, I am very
friendly and have many friends and acquaintances. No one stays a stranger to me for long at my
school. My close friends and I like to
spend a lot of time together outside school.
We especially like to go to cafes to talk and use the Wi-Fi. My best friend and I talk about
everything. We talk about school, and
our classmates, and about boys we like.
Neither of us has a boyfriend yet.
We send messages to each other all the time, and I am so happy when we
are together.
My family lives in the
city, but my parents were born in the countryside. Most of our family still
lives there. We like to go to the
countryside and visit our relatives, especially during Khmer New Year. We usually stay with our grandparents, on my
mother’s side. My uncles and aunts also
live nearby. They are my mother’s
brothers and sisters. They have a lot of
children too, so we have many cousins to spend time with. At New Year, we like to talk, play sports and
traditional games, and eat special holiday food.
My father’s parents, my
other grandparents, live in a different village close by. We often go there to spend some time with
them and visit our other aunts, uncles, and cousins. My aunts and uncles always say my siblings
and I are their favorite nieces and nephews.
